Course content

Course introduction

In Business you will have the opportunity to complete six coursework assignments and two external examinations based on realistic situations linked to working in a variety of business environments. It will give you a good feel for what it is like to be at work as well as developing your organisational and interpersonal skills.

Introduction

This course is equivalent to 1 GCSE and is a one year course. 

Specific course entry requirements

To study a Level 2 programme you will have achieved a minimum of three grade 3s in your GCSEs, in addition to a grade 3 in English Language and Mathematics (please refer to the Entry Requirements section for further details).

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed trough a mixture of written assignments, practical activities and presentations as well as completing an external exam. 

What will I study?

You can expect to cover the following topics:

• Introduction to Business

• Finance for Business

• Enterprise in the Business World

• Recruitment, Selection and Employment.

Where will this course lead me?

This course will provide you with the opportunity for further progression to a suitable course in Business Level 3. Studying Business will also provide you with excellent skills and knowledge to help you gain employment Progression to Level 3 courses at college is dependent upon meeting the entry requirements for that course.

Nurturing rising talent

Our Elective Programme is designed to help you develop your gifts and interests as part of an enhanced level 3 programme. We will help you realise your potential by nurturing your talent and preparing you for study at the most prestigious universities or for progression to competitive higher-level apprenticeships. Your options range from our Honours Programme, which might include following a fourth A level, to specialist Futures Programmes that will support your career goals.

Competitive sport

The college has a number of teams that play as part of the Association of College’s league and are very competitive each year. We play games on a Wednesday afternoon, so this will make up part of your time-table.

There will be trials for male and female football, male and female rugby league and netball on Wednesday 9th September at 1.30pm, meet at the Sports Hall. Following trials will be a pizza and soft drink meeting in the Sports Hall to give you more information on the season. Hockey and Basketball will follow during the first week. Details will be emailed.
